About Michael Cole:

Michael Cole is a retired English teacher and a perennial book reviewer at the Brotherhood Breakfast Club. He is a Past President of Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood, a past member of the Temple's Board of Trustees, a past teacher in the Religious School, a volunteer Shiva leader, and an accomplished shofar blower on Rosh Hashanah.

About Geraldine Brooks and People of the Book:

Geraldine Brooks is a novelist, Pulitzer Prize winning author, and former war correspondent. Her writing has appeared in "The Wall Street Journal", "The New York Times" and "The Washington Post".

People of the Book is a historical novel that tells the story of the Sarajevo Haggadah. Handcrafted in Seville in 1480, the haggadah experiences the Jewish exile from Spain, North Africa during the Caliphate, Venice and the book burnings of the Inquisition, Vienna in the 1890’s and ultimately Bosnia where a Muslim risks his life to save it from the Nazis.
